Born in 1968 in Volkel (Netherlands), Mark Manders is a sculptor. His sculptures and installations integrating land, painted metal, furniture items, the newspaper, the figure and the words because the work is also a kind of personal encyclopedia. Throughout his years of work, Mark Manders was an instantly recognizable vocabulary which combines brick walls, factory chimneys, animals, characters, tea bags. The surprising assemblies immediately put the viewer in the position of the awakened dreamer entering a world that, although figuratively, is entirely mental. Exposure of Carré d’Art was the first monographic exhibition devoted to the work of the artist in France.
