Quiet blooms
in the company of birdsong
the steady breathing of my partner
and all my cares
examined
and placed in their containers
some neat, others spilling forth
to catch at my attention.
In quiet I resist
those that bubble up too noisily
and look instead
to cherish
the care that needs me most.
Holding
the old anxiety
that I might not be loved enough
within a width of tenderness
I render its worry
obsolete.

Thank you for sharing dear Tanya.
‘Holding
the old anxiety
that I might not be loved enough
with particular tenderness
I render its worry
obsolete’
Tanya this is wonderful. I’ve returned to reread it several times. Tenderness is exquisite.
Thanks, Sandy, I’ve actually just changed ‘particular’ to ‘maternal’ as it had been bothering me. Sending lockdown tenderness to you.
Dear Tanya, thank you for this poem. It is good to read your writing again. I am reading it here in the mid-morning quiet of a garden in London, England. Tenderness travels!
So wonderful to picture you there in another season, dear Bronia! Tanya
Thank you for your wonderful poem.
